Year 2 SATs – May 2017

What a busy half term we had in Year 2! The children have now completed their SATs assessments and we are all so proud of how all the children did during these last few weeks. All of the children tried their very best and that’s all we can ask for!

Upcoming events

We have an extremely busy half term coming up in Year 2. The children are already busy working on our products to make and sell at our craft sale on Thursday 29th June at 2pm in the school hall. You will be able to buy a range of items made by the children to raise money. The children will decide what the money will be spent on and this topic hopes to bring out the entrepreneurial side of them! Last year’s event was hugely successful, so we look forward to seeing you there!

We also have a Year 2 Graduation Ceremony which will be held on Wednesday 19th June at 10.45am in the school hall. This will be a real opportunity to celebrate the children’s achievements this year and prepare them for beginning Key Stage 2 in September. Please do come and support the children and share in the year’s achievements.

Thank you!

Thank you for all your continued support, it really makes a world of difference.

Sealion’s Safewise Trip

1

The Sealion class had a lovely time at the Safewise Centre on Wednesday morning. The children learnt a lot about keeping safe in a number of scenarios. They learnt how to cross the road safely, how to be safe at home, how to cope in the event of a fire, including making a 999 phone call. The children asked lots of questions and were so well behaved during the whole visit! Please do ask them about what they learnt!

Priests House Trip

6

The Sealion class had a fantastic visit to the Priest’s House Museum in Wimborne on Tuesday! The children really enjoyed working in a Victorian kitchen to make toast, lemonade and biscuits using traditional Victorian methods. They learnt about different Victorian toys and games and also experienced a Victorian schoolroom including the strict teacher Mr Banks! The children also enjoyed washing clothes in a tub using carbolic soap and a washing dolly! Here are some photos of the activities the children took part in during the morning. Take a look here

Wow what a fantastic start to Year 2! The children have been so excited to tell everyone about their holidays and are already working hard! All of the children are really settling well into their new classroom and routines and are particularly enjoying collecting Dojo points for excellent behaviour and working.

Mrs Lincoln, Mrs Jurado and Mrs Lloyd have all enjoyed getting to know the new class and are all very excited for a busy, fun-filled half term!

Parents/carers please remember to make sure that your child has a named water bottle in school, a full school PE kit (named) and their reading book and purple reading log every day. This really does help the smooth running of the day and enables us to achieve the best from your child.

You should have received our Year 2 newsletter and Home Learning letter which gives important information that you need to know. If you have not received these letters, they are attached on this page.

Mrs Lincoln, Mrs Jurado or Mrs Lloyd are always happy to discuss any concerns or questions you might have on the door in the morning, or if you need a slightly longer discussion, Mrs Lincoln is available for appointments after school. These can be made via the school office.

Thank you for all your support, it really makes such a huge difference!
